Still have not been out to the theater for some time...Actually as I say that I do remember that we went to Disneyland a couple weeks ago. Haven't been there for 30 years...Anyways, while there we went out one night and saw the new Wallace and Gromit film..Thought it was entertaining..Some coming up I definitely hope to see in the theater...King Kong, Narnia, ...
Have rented a couple flicks recently...
"Mad Hot Ballroom" - A documentary about kids in New York learning Ballroom dance. Cute movie done very well.
"Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy" - This did not get the greatest reviews but I did enjoy it...A little off the wall, but for the most part very funny. Effects are great too. Not for everyone. If you enjoy british comedy, you will enjoy this one...
"Manchurian Candidate" - This is the new one with Denzell Washington. Plugged this in while doing some work. Ended up getting no work done as you really need to pay attention to this. Found it very interesting and kept me thinking until the end. Had to watch some behind the scenes stuff after to get a little clue..

Well I have not been to a theater lately. Too bad as we have a pretty cool new one in Petaluma. Been there to see a few films: Cinderella Man, Mr and Mrs Smith, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and of course Shark Boy and Lava Girl...Honestly been a while and by thoughts on these are somewhat limited...Cinderella Man was a good film but i think suffered from having to compete with all the spaceships blowing up etc...I did not expect much of Mr and Mrs Smith, but ended up enjoying it. I thought Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a terrific film. Johnny Depp was a great Willy despite what Roger Ebert says. The effects were great as well. Another fun Tim Burton film. Shark Boy and Lava Girl...uhhhh.ummmmmm.uuhhhhh stuff flew out at you...Actually a fun movie for kids.
Some recent DVD rentals:
* The Machinist - After seeing Batman Begins, I wanted to check out more Christian Bale films. First one I checked out was American Psycho. This was pretty intense, and i did enjoy. Bale plays another quirky character. In The machinist, he plays a character that has not slept for a year. He has lost a lot of weight (Bale actually physically lost the weight done to weighing almost 100 pounds). Things happen in his life that he can not figure out, and we have to go along with him...Very good film that could be a little intense (some violent scenes and some sexual).
* Rock School - Not to be confused with Jack Black's School of Rock. This is a documentary about a guy that teaches kids (from 7-17??) how to be rock stars. Very interesting and a lot of good talent. This would be great for kids to see, but the language is a little rough
* What the Bleep do we know - Documentary/film dealing with Quantum Mechanics...O.K. sounds pretty boring, but was very interesting. Would like to buy a used version and watch another 100 times to maybe understand half of it...
* Primer - First time, low budget film about time travel. Done differently and found myself glued to it. After watching it, ended up watching it again with Director commentary to try to figure it out (once again). May have to watch a third time with cast commentary..I would recommend it mainly so you can e-mail and tell me what you think it was all about...
More to come....
